THINK & DO TANK. IT'S STORMARN. 2nd knowledge meeting a complete success

AI in practice - optimisation of work processes was the topic of the 2nd knowledge meeting of our Think & Do Tank IT'S STORMARN on 4 July 2024, which this time took place at Basler AG in Ahrensburg. Here is a brief review of the great event:

After the welcome by our Managing Director Ulf Hahn and Norbert Basler, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Basler AG, we started with an inspiring keynote speech by Dr Uve Samuels from the Exponential Innovation Institute Hamburg. Entitled "Demystifying AI - A systematic approach to the use of AI", he gave us an in-depth introduction to the world of artificial intelligence.

The short break that followed provided the perfect opportunity for networking in the Basel Piazza before we moved on to the exciting AI use case pitches from IT'S Stormarn's partner companies:

AI-supported expansion in the U.S. growth market - Christoph Kowollik and Dr Marius Biedebach from the Stern-Wywiol Gruppe presented how they are using Artificial Intelligence to support their expansion in the U.S. growth market. By using AI algorithms, they were able to better predict market trends, optimise sales strategies and thus make targeted inroads into new market segments. The AI helped to generate customer data in order to create personalised marketing campaigns that precisely met the needs of American customers.

AI for everyone - a company learns together - Matthias Langenohl, Managing Director of HEROSE GmbH, presented a project in which the entire company is benefiting from the introduction of AI. Through a comprehensive training initiative, all managers from team leader to CEO were familiarised with the basics and application potential of artificial intelligence. As part of a two-day hackathon and "Code your own AI" workshop, acceptance and understanding of AI in the company was increased and an initial prototype was created. This enabled employees to contribute their own ideas that can be supported and implemented by AI, leading to a noticeable increase in efficiency and creativity in everyday working life.

Optimising customer communication through AI-supported processes - Stefan Minhorst and Zohaib Arshad from Sterac Transport & Logistik GmbH showed how AI has revolutionised their customer communication. By implementing AI-driven chatbots and automated email response systems, the company was able to significantly reduce response times and improve customer service. The AI systems analyse queries in real time and offer immediate solutions or forward more complex problems to human employees. This has not only increased customer satisfaction, but also optimised internal processes.

AI in development and applications - Julian Alexander and André Klinkert from the Topmotive Group explained how they use AI in their development and application processes. They use machine learning and data analysis to optimise the development of new products and services. By analysing large amounts of data, they were able to identify trends and patterns that led to innovative solutions. They also use AI to increase efficiency in production and continuously improve the quality of their products.

Integration of an AI-based chatbot for the service desk - Jörn Becks, Director IT Operations and Business Transformation at Basler AG, presented the implementation of an AI-based chatbot for the service desk. The chatbot is able to answer frequently asked questions and solve simple problems on its own, reducing the workload of employees by 40% by automating recurring routine tasks at the service desk. For more complex issues, the chatbot forwards the enquiries to the relevant specialists. This has led to a significant improvement in service quality and faster processing of customer enquiries.

In the subsequent World Café, the employees of the partner companies were able to engage in intensive discussions in small groups, share their experiences and develop new ideas.
