WAS was founded in 1957, making it one of the pioneers of business development organisations in Germany. The company is organised as a private enterprise.

The shareholder structure of Wirtschafts- und Aufbaugesellschaft Stormarn mbH (WAS) consists of the Stormarn district, Sparkasse Holstein and Investitionsbank Schleswig-Holstein. The Supervisory Board is made up of representatives of our shareholders and politicians from the parliamentary groups in Stormarn.
