Business breakfast in Ahrensburg - The famous "last mile" in industrial estates

07.11.2023: The excellent location, diversified economic structure and high level of prosperity - this is exactly what makes Stormarn a great location, but do we also have the right offers for the famous "last mile"?

Creativity and input were in demand when WAS, together with the Ahrensburg Economic Development Agency, invited people to a business breakfast. Many entrepreneurs and employees from local companies in Ahrensburg's business parks came together to identify mobility potential and jointly develop solutions that are good for their company, their employees and the environment, because sometimes it is precisely this last mile that makes it difficult for employees to decide in favour of public transport and against using their own car.

After the welcoming address by Mayor Eckart Boege, Matthias Terpe, Managing Director of Acer Computer GmbH, gave an insight into the company's mobility management programme. This scores points with individual offers for employees, ranging from the HVV-Proficard, the Deutschlandticket, job bike leasing and charging options for cars and bikes to shower facilities at the company. This concept has been continuously developed since 2017, creating a large cycling community within the company.

One key point that quickly emerged during the discussion was the lack of parking facilities for bicycles and e-bikes at the station. Kay Renner from the Ahrensburg town planning department gave an insight into a possible mobility station project.

During this lively exchange, it quickly became clear how important it is for companies to network with each other in the business parks and how important it is to have a holistic concept that can be individually adapted to the requirements of employees - this is exactly where we want to start and also offer business park meetings on this and other topics at other locations.
