Diversity in Stormarn
The diversity of this district is reflected in the characteristic features and needs of its communities. The broad spectrum ranges from lively city life to idyllic villages, emphasising the versatility of Stormarn.
The Stormarn district is home to a total of 55 municipalities of different sizes. Six towns administer themselves independently, while an additional four "amtsfreie Gemeinden" have not yet achieved official town status due to their number of inhabitants. Five authorities administer 45 municipalities in the Stormarn district. Trittau and Amt Trittau share an administration. Tangstedt is administered by Amt Itzstedt in the district of Segeberg.
